How To Guarantee Success When You Work With A Personal Trainer

There is More To The Success Equation than Just The Work Out….

Naturally, the entire reason you are seeking the assistance of a personal trainer is that you want to increase your fitness level to the max.

Personal fitness training is a great first step; however, regardless of how well your workout routine is organized it is going to be impossible to obtain the success you want without taking a few extra steps.

First and foremost, you are going to need to address your diet.

The food you eat plays a large role in your personal health. The vitamins and minerals you will consume are what will keep your heart pumping, your blood flowing smoothly and your immune system working at its optimum capacity (it is very hard to exercise when you are so weak from illness or anemia that you can barely stand). If you are serious about achieving success you will want to obtain the services of a dietician or a nutritionist or, barring that, speak with your physician about designing a diet especially for you. Be forewarned, however, that information obtained from a physician is probably going to be of the more general variety, whereas a dietician will be able to help you establish a day by day eating schedule that will push you to the top.

Beware of the fad diets advertised on television which are touted to help flush the body’s systems and allow you to lose a great deal of weight in a very short amount of time, particularly the “detox diets” being promoted by many of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Most of these do allow you to lose weight quickly by severely limiting your calorie intake; however, this will ultimately lead you into failure.

The body receives it energy by metabolizing calories; cutting its caloric intake too far will cause the body to believe that it is storing and decrease its metabolism, storing fat for use at a later date and time. This means that all weight loss will come to a grinding halt, after which the dieter will almost inevitably gain back most of what they have lost. Secondly, you are probably going to need to make a few lifestyle changes.

Do you smoke or drink alcohol on a regular basis? Both of these activities are detrimental to your body’s natural ability to function, and if you are serious about achieving the healthiest body possible you are going to need to eliminate these habits from your daily activities.

What about sleep? Studies have shown that individuals who do not get an adequate amount of sleep each night will actually gain weight rather than losing it. The same can be said of stress, although the exact mechanisms of this have not been absolutely determined. Being sure to give your body eight to ten hours of sleep a night and cutting back on your stress will go a long way in your battle for physical fitness.

Finally, you must be sure that any chronic health conditions are firmly under control before starting any type of training program.

It is easy to disregard the impact of a “common” disease such as diabetes on the ability of the body to get fit, but if the disease is not under control the training program may only serve to throw the body’s balance off even farther than it already is.

If you suffer from any form of chronic health condition you should consult with a doctor before undertaking any type of training program, and be sure that you are completely honest with your trainer about your condition.

Remember, as a trainer they are experienced in how many health conditions can affect a person’s level of fitness, and they will be able to assist your physician in guiding you to the training program that is right for you.
